A Bit About Me

Owner and Educator

My name is Kriss Given, and I hold a background in environmental science, education, and curriculum development.  In 2016, I graduated from Washington College with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and a Bachelor of Sociology. In 2019, I graduated from Green Mountain College with a Master of Science in Resilient and Sustainable Communities.

My passion stands in teaching the youth about environmental education and encouraging pro-environmental action to create a resilient community. I strive to assist teachers in meeting their science curriculum standards by developing curriculum based on Next Generation Science Standards, and Pennsylvania Science Standards, and delivering programs to the classroom.

Prior to starting this new adventure, I developed and led in-school programs at Nottingham Elementary School, Jordan Bank Elementary School, Greenwood Elementary School, and Barnsley Academy.  I enjoy teaching hands-on, interactive lessons that allow students to visualize the impact that science education can have on them personally. It is my goal to help students understand how pro-environmental action can help within their community and teach students about their local environment.

When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and husband getting outdoors, hiking, traveling, and gardening. I love raising chickens and turkeys, collecting eggs, and hatching chicks! We also have two dogs, three cats, and a foster bunny (and, occasionally, foster kittens).
